Top 10 nuts for single girls to store away for winter

Squirrels have it right. While I was running in the park today, I watched a few of the little brown critters scurry around looking for the perfect spot to bury the giant nut in their mouth.

They made me think about what nuts a single girl should store away for winter. This is my first single girl winter so these things are important. And there are definitely a few must haves.

10. A bottle of chilled Bailey's. No reason needed. Bailey's is just yummy and can get just about anyone in the holiday spirit.

9. Fixins for your favorite cold weather comfort meal. Chili, stew, soup, green bean casserole are a few that come to mind. And the more people you can serve the better.

8. A cozy restaurant close by where you can fill your tummy and warm up. Mine is the sushi place a block away. I already know I'll be there a couple of times a week for lunch for a big bowl of miso soup and a pot of green tea. The soup warms me to my fingertips and is only $3. My friend and I have already warned them we'll show up in our PJs, fuzzy slippers and wrapped in Snuggies. There's also some amazing gumbo a little further down the road.

7. Speaking of Snuggies, I don't have one. What? I'm not sure how that's happened. It's another must have.

6. A fireplace or a friend close by with one. (And I don't mean a fireplace screen saver. That's just cruel.)

5. Breakfast food to make for dinner. There's nothing tastier and more comforting than a breakfast spread on a chilly night. Pancakes, waffles, eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits, ingredients for your favorite breakfast casseroles - you know the sinful ones with eggs, cheese and sausage - are all delish options.

4. Hot chocolate and hot tea to add to your coffee supply. Lots.

3. Access to your favorite light chick movie or series. Mine is Sex and the City - all 94 episodes. I'm already thinking about watching parties.

2. Extra cash for that mid-winter trip when you absolutely must put your toes in the sand or the snow or wherever you and your toes are happiest. This isn't a trip to visit family for the holidays. This is a trip for you.

1. If you can, why not store some real nuts away for winter, along with everything they're attached to, of course. What single girl doesn't enjoy a cozy cuddle with a snugly guy on a chilly night?

What are your must-have nuts to store away for winter? I'm just learning so comment please!

Love to the single girls,
Addison

  1. There are Snuggies ... and then there are Slankets ... while both keep you warm, only one is the real deal. A slanket is so much better than a Snuggie because you can fit about half a dozen of your closest friends UNDER the Slanket for a bit of fun. Try it!

  2. Thanks for the Snuggie/Slanket advice! Yes, a party Slanket is the way to go. I'm kinda liking the zebra stripes. Your secret's out though - the Siamese (and the Koala) Slankets are SOLD OUT!
